Mentor/Peer Information
Mentor Guidelines:
  • Participate in MCSD Peer/Mentor Training Session (or booster session if assigned) .
  • Meet with Beginning Teacher a minimum of hour each week (monthly School Induction Group meetings will count toward this requirement) or with Experienced New Teachers bi-monthly
  • Attend at least 8 of the monthly School Induction Group meetings(4 if not assigned as a mentor [pending])
  • Participate in a School Induction Group that meets at least 8 times per year (includes all mentors/peers and all new Beginning and teachers).
  • Help the Beginning Teacher:
    • Complete the Danielson Domains Courses in Edivate
    • Write objectives for his/her Professional Growth Plan (PGP).
    • Evaluate outcomes of his/her PGP at the end of the year.
    • Complete the Beginning Teacher Induction Program Packet.
    • If required, for each of the six (6) areas (FEAPs-Florida Educator Accomplished Practices), provide an entry for every indicator.
    • If required, for each of the six (6) areas, choose one (1) indicator and attach evidence of completion. Entries may be gathered throughout the course of the school year.
    • Informally observe the Beginning Teacher at least two (2) times
    • Model at least two (2) lessons for your mentee
OR
  • Help the New Teacher(Peers):
    • Complete the Danielson Domains Courses in Edivate

    • Evaluate outcomes of his/her PGP at the end of the year.
    • Complete the New Teacher Induction Program Checklist.
    • Model at least one(1) lessons for your mentee
    • Informally observe the New Experienced Teacher at least one(1) time
